Last week our entire class (of 6 students) had the privilege of being taught by the renowned pastry chef and cake master, Ron Ben Israel for 5 days. It was amazing. I learned so much I never wanted it to end. It’s incredible how effortlessly he puts the flowers together. It took our class 5x as long to finish each step after his demonstrations. We started by making our own sugar paste, which apparently is cheaper and far superior than store bought, a day before Ron’s arrival. We colored the sugar paste beforehand, and then later added more color and definition with petal dust. We made Ron’s famous roses, peonies, tulips, sweet peas, lilies, orchids, wild roses and stephanotis. It was amazing. We also made our own vases out of sugar and water. That’s it! JUST sugar and water! Isn’t that amazing? Did I mention how amazing everything was?
the petals of the lily could be a little more open, but hey i’m still proud for my first try!
I was so hot and sweaty that day and I have absolutely zero makeup on, but I HAD to get a picture! (this was actually the better version. You should have seen the first one we took…)
This has got to be some of the best sugar paste flowers I have seen in a WHILE, and your not even a professional yet! Keep up the hard work, the sky is the limit!
Amazing, Suzie! Killing it.
thank you!!!
